Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for a HGV Trailer Technician to join the team based in Bridgwater. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis, working Monday – Friday 06:00 – 14:00 (week 1) and 14:00 – 22:00 (week 2) – rotating shift and in return, you will receive a highly competitive salary of £36,000-£38,000 depending on experience per annum plus excellent company benefits!

The Trailer Technician role:

Ensures the company 400+ trailer fleet is effectively serviced and repaired on a cost-effective and timely basis within company and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll be doing as our Trailer Technician:

Ensuring trailers are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards
Preparing and presenting trailers for MOT inspections
Diagnosing trailer-related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken
Liaising with trailer manufacturers regarding acquiring of parts and replacement vehicles, keeping key colleagues informed of progress where necessary
Ensuring high levels of safety and cleanliness at all times and that required house-keeping duties meet required standards
Updating and maintaining appropriate digital records and ensuring all relevant information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis

What qualifications and experience are we looking for in our Trailer Technician?

Class 1 licence preferred, but not essential
Mechanical background is necessary, knowledge and experience is essential
Ideally Qualified to Level 2 or IRTEC trained
Experienced in using transport repair tools and associated software
Experienced in following established procedures and problem-solving and/or making sound judgements where not all information is available

Ability to use initiative and organise their work so that key tasks can be completed fully and on time
Ability to work to fluid targets and deadlines
Proven verbal and written communication skills
Proven arithmetic skills
